Let me tell you a story...
For the purposes of brevity we'll join it when I stumbled upon The Emely. I was impressed by The Emely's forceful modesty. I was drawn to and amused by the idea of The Emely Residency. In the do-it-yourself spirit of The Emely project I purloined the idea and created The Reside Residency.
[Reside Residency Update] So far during the Reside Residency I have materially done or acted in no way other than I normally would if I wasn't on the residency (It's a highly charged political point - if you want it to be).
Shortly into my residency I happened across The Ledge Project. It seemed to chime with my residency. I submitted a show to The Ledge Project, I said "the abject nature of my residency seems to mirror the understated nature of the ledge". I did not receive a reply.
This lead me to contemplate the siting of the abject artwork. I ordered some wood to make a plinth. I accidentally ordered in centimeters, I got millimeters. My intended 130cm plinth was reduced to 13cm. To save face in front of the bemused wood cutters I brazened my way out by insisting I could use the tiny plinth anyway. I made the miniature plinth. I gave it as a present to @mark_pete. Mark decided together with @tedaitch that we should instigate an art project and invite applications to exhibit works on it. Hence MorphPlinth.
These three disparate instances festered in the petri dish of The Reside Residency until they contaminated my mind with the genesis of an idea.
The outcome of which resulted in me pitching the idea to the hunky Ben Street over a whisky sour or two.
After much [insert metal working metaphors] and several months later we had forged a fully fledged plan...
We have created an Art Fair. It is called the Sluice artfair
And so, The Reside Residency has done it's job, my six month residency ends on 1st July, if anybody would like to apply for the next residency applications are open....... now
